Seattle, United States Amazon Full time
Principal Product Manager Technical, Amazon

Job ID: 2749364 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Hundreds of millions of customers. Billions of products for sale. Billions of queries and billions of dollars in revenue. The scale and impact of Amazon Search is huge.

The Search Customer Experience team is responsible for the customer-facing features, information, and look & feel of search results on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices globally.

We obsess about the customer experience, leveraging instrumentation, usability studies, customer surveys, and customer feedback to understand customer needs. We adapt and innovate based on these learnings, and validate our understanding through A/B experimentation. We pursue continuous iterative improvement of our existing features, while also exploring new concepts and testing new ideas. The immense scale of Amazon's business allows us to test and learn rapidly.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Principal Product Manager-Technical for Search Product Faceouts - the glanceable bundle of product details displayed for each item in search results. Faceouts include the product image, title, star-rating, price, discounts, delivery speed, and more. A great Faceout can help customers quickly evaluate and compare the myriad options available. You will partner closely with some of Amazon's highest visibility strategic programs, to ensure that Amazon's search experience can support entirely new types of products and services. You will determine priorities, define requirements, set goals, define KPIs, and build roadmaps to accelerate growth of these new lines of business.

You will work backwards from the customer to address known customer frustrations and anticipate new customer needs for new product lines. You will partner closely with teams launching new, confidential products categories, or shopping capabilities. You will have strong judgment and understand which opportunities drive the most strategic value for the business. Faced with difficult tradeoffs, you will invent win-win solutions.

A day in the life
A typical day will involve meetings and 1-1 discussions with partners across multiple VP-level partner organizations, and also close collaboration with engineers, scientists, user experience designers, and other product managers within your own team. You will be expected to independently prepare documents for a VP level audience, and lead VP-level meetings. You will facilitate product debates with partners across multiple organizations. You will spend significant portions of most days diving deeply into customer data, user interface designs, and technical details across multiple lines of business. Documenting your plans, progress, learnings and proposed solutions will also be a regular task.

About the team
You’ll work in a dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, leveraging the resources of one of the world's leading internet companies. We are a customer-centric and results-oriented team, where collaboration is valued, and individual growth is prioritized.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- 8+ years of end to end product delivery experience
- 8+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement
- Experience leading cross-organizational programs and setting and holding teams and individuals to timelines and deliverables without explicit authority
- Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
