A highly regarded law firm in Washington, D.C. is seeking skilled applicants for their Human Resources Coordinator opening. This is a hybrid, contract position with the potential to turn into a permanent role.


  • Contract role - starting by 9/30 ideally
  • $28/hour starting pay with flex based on experience
  • Hybrid - MRF remote, TW in office
  • Bachelor's degree required


The Recruiting & HR Coordinator supports attorney and professional staff recruiting and other human resources activities across the firm. This includes scheduling and coordinating interviews for attorney and staff candidates and monitoring the Careers mailbox. This person will work closely with attorneys, partners and admin team members to ensure seamless execution of recruiting and human resources initiatives including in-person attorney interviews, and onsite/external recruiting events (i.e. attorney interviews, JIOP receptions, Clerkship Receptions, etc.) and new hire orientation. The position will provide operational HR support in connection with new hire orientation, attorney professional development and the annual performance management process, etc. This hybrid role can be based in our New York, Washington, D.C. or Chicago office. The position reports to the Manager of Firm Talent and Recruiting.


Primary Responsibilities:

• Daily monitor the Careers inbox and create attorney candidate profiles in viDesktop.

• Ensure attorney applications or submissions are complete and meet the minimum requirements for consideration.

• Track attorney application status, interview evaluations and offers extended.

• Schedule in-person and virtual interviews for attorney and professional staff candidates.

• Draft and send out candidate welcome, interview confirmation and rejection letters for attorney/staff candidates.

• Proactively and effectively communicate with local admin teams regarding in-person interviews and internal/external recruiting events.

• Create and track weekly hiring updates for attorney and staff candidates/searches.

• Manage the recruiting cycle calendar and store search firm fee agreements in NetDocs.

• Track attorney bar and court admissions, CLE certificates and CLE compliance periods.

• Assist with the CLE accreditation application process and attendance tracking for internal CLE events.

• Provide onsite support for in-person interviews in the local office and Clerk Recruiting Receptions in the Fall.

• Create, test, and manage viDesktop credentials and access for new hires and existing employees. • Coordinate new hire orientation schedules and preliminary onboarding activities for attorney and staff hires.

• Assist with ad hoc recruiting and human resources projects/tasks and serve as a back-up to local admin team.


Experience & Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree and a minimum of 2 years of recruiting and/or human resources experience with an AmLaw 200 firm or a top-tier litigation boutique firm.

• Prior experience interacting directly with and supporting attorneys and partners.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Proficient in viDesktop, Microsoft Office and open to learning other types of software platforms.

• Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across offices.

• Self-driven with the ability to anticipate recruiting needs, take the initiative to follow-up and follow through with minimal direction.


LOD offers non-attorney flexible talent placement rates that range from $15 to $100 per hour depending upon experience level and specific skills requested by the client, the candidate’s general skill set, the applicability of the candidate's skill set to client need, client budget, number of hours requested, and other factors. A specific rate of pay for a project will be discussed with you if it is determined that you are a potential fit for a role.
