The Role

The Human Resources Coordinator is a key member of our Human Capital & Talent team, responsible for providing comprehensive support to the department and its assigned offices or functions. This role will serve as a primary point of contact for all human resources inquiries, including but not limited to:

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Timekeeping system application
  • Benefits eligibility
  • Leave eligibility
  • Accommodation requests
  • Recruiting

This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office and may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating connections with appropriate functional departments and providing updates to their HR team members as needed
  • Leveraging knowledge of the firm's human resources policies to answer most questions independently, using appropriate judgment to collaborate and escalate complex questions and issues as appropriate
  • Supporting Peoplesoft reporting and timekeeping activities, including working with the Human Resources Operations team to adjust entries in Kronos, following up with managers and supervisors to ensure all timecards are approved, using Kronos and PeopleSoft to generate reports, answering routine questions about timekeeping and the timekeeping system, and ensuring FLSA standards are met
  • Coordinating new hire orientation and working with the hiring manager(s) and the global HC&T community to develop an agenda, schedule presenters, and support programs to facilitate new employee integration during the first year of employment to meet the firm's objectives for new hire retention
  • Supporting employee life cycle processes (e.g., transfers, promotions, departures) and coordinating changes with the appropriate departments
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resources functions
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills
  • The ability to cultivate relationships across teams and all organizational levels of the firm
  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent
  • A focus in a related field, preferably
  • A minimum of four (4) years of HR experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience
