Business Development Director — AI-Driven Digital MGA Our client is a high-growth, venture-backed digital MGA redefining commercial insurance distribution. Combining underwriting expertise with real-time data and AI-driven insights, the company delivers speed, precision, and transparency to brokers and insureds. With strong capacity partnerships and growing market traction, they are now entering an aggressive U.S. and UK expansion phase. The Opportunity This is a key commercial hire responsible for leading broker distribution and building a scalable go-to-market engine. The Business Development Director will own the producer strategy, open new channels, and shape the playbook for growth alongside underwriting, product, and marketing. What You’ll Do Design and execute the broker distribution strategy — segmentation, coverage, and revenue planning Activate and expand wholesale and retail relationships to drive submissions, quotes, and bound premium Build and manage a small but high-impact BD and partnerships team, including hiring, targets, and coaching Collaborate with underwriting and product to refine appetite, pricing strategy, and digital submission flows Oversee producer agreements, onboarding, and compliance processes Partner with marketing to launch repeatable outreach campaigns, events, and co-marketing programs Maintain CRM discipline (Salesforce/HubSpot), ensuring pipeline visibility and accurate forecasting Expand strategic partnerships across digital distribution, embedded channels, and platform integrations Support carrier and reinsurer partnership growth through storytelling and portfolio insights Report key metrics, broker feedback, and GTM performance to the executive team and board Success in Year One Established network of new, active brokers generating bound premium in target segments Predictable submission flow with improved quote-to-bind ratios GWP growth meeting or exceeding quarterly targets Strong broker retention and repeat placements Documented playbook, scalable sales motions, and defined performance metrics What You Bring 7+ years of experience in commercial or specialty insurance with a strong distribution focus Track record of building and scaling broker networks within MGA, carrier, or program environments Experience designing GTM motions and playbooks from early stage through growth Leadership experience managing BD or partnerships teams Well-established relationships across national and regional wholesale and retail brokers Data-driven approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and performance metrics Collaborative, strategic communicator comfortable working across underwriting, operations, and product Bonus Experience Deep line knowledge in one or more: property, casualty, cyber, E&O/D&O, marine, or parametric Experience with digital distribution: API/embedded, portal, or marketplace channels Familiarity with program administration, Lloyd’s, or surplus lines environments Seniority Level Director Employment Type Full-time Job Function Business Development Industries Insurance #J-18808-Ljbffr
