Job Summary:

Epitec is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented eCommerce Demand Forecasting Analyst to join our client’s team in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The role involves developing and maintaining sales forecasts, conducting price elasticity analysis, and organizing promotional data to support demand planning and inventory management for an eCommerce environment.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis and demand forecasting, particularly within eCommerce or retail sectors. You will be responsible for gathering and organizing promotional data, establishing baseline sales forecasts using time series techniques, analyzing price elasticity, and preparing comprehensive reports to support data-driven decision-making. Proficiency in tools like Excel and SQL, along with strong communication skills and experience working with eCommerce platforms, is essential.

  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday on-site; Fridays WFH
  • Pay Rate: $29 - 33/hour with optional benefits plans


Job Responsibilities:

Data Collection and Organization

  • Gather and organize promotional data from internal system sources.
  • Categorize promotions based on themes (e.g. national promotions, members only offers, product bundles etc.).
  • Develop a centralized data repository for easy access and analysis.

Baseline Sales Forecasting

  • Utilize historical sales data and appropriate time series forecasting techniques to establish sales forecasts.
  • Assist in cleansing promotional lifts from the baseline forecast to ensure accuracy.
  • Support the development a weekly rolling forecast that incorporates baseline sales and promotional impacts.

Price Elasticity Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive price elasticity analysis for different product categories and price points.
  • Calculate sales lift multiplier based on historical data and promotional performance.
  • Develop a standardized menu of sales lift multipliers to be used in order forecasting.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports on demand forecasts, promotional performance.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Data collection and organization: Ability to gather, categorize, and organize promotional data from various sources.
  • Baseline sales forecasting: Proficiency in utilizing historical sales data and applying time series forecasting techniques to establish accurate sales forecasts.
  • Price elasticity analysis: Strong understanding of conducting price elasticity analysis for different product categories and price points, and developing a standardized menu of sales lift multipliers for use in order forecasting.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in demand forecasting, preferably in an ecommerce or retail environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis tools such as Excel and SQL.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with ecommerce platforms and promotions tools is a plus.


Bonus:

  • Experience using forecasting techniques like ARIMA, Prophet, exponential smoothing.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Tableau, Adobe Analytics.
