As the Lead Product Development Engineer for Televisions, you’ll lead new product development, including concept, definition, commercialization, release to mass production, and continued product improvements. You’ll often represent Exclusive Brands, working closely with external companies such as system integrators, technology providers and standards organizations in the design and commercialization of new products. You’ll collaborate with your counterparts on the engineering team to meet product requirements and address technical issues to ensure products meet company specifications. You’ll also provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers on the team.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the development of assigned television and related products in collaboration with US- and Asia-based product engineers
  • Work closely with both internal and external partners to address all technical issues and ensure products meet Best Buy standards
  • Help develop and manage engineering project schedules and collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure the overall master schedule is up to date
  • Coordinate with appropriate internal and external parties to ensure that all technical, regulatory, and compliance project deliverables are completed
  • Closely work with the supplier quality engineering team to review and address customer feedback and product return data
  • Help lead the development and maintenance of product specifications, product roadmaps and development strategy

Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in electrical, computer or mechanical engineering or related technical discipline
  • 8 or more years of experience in a hands-on product design and development engineering role in connected TVs, consumer electronics or related audio/video products
  • 8 or more years of experience interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external partners and organizations in the development of connected televisions or similar high-volume electronics products
  • 3 or more years of television hardware troubleshooting and testing experience
  • Solid analog and digital hardware experience applicable to high-volume consumer products
  • 3 years of experience in technical project management involving multiple projects in a matrixed organization
  • Experience with hardware and software architecture, SoC architecture, RTOS, Linux, Android and RF technologies such as WiFi and Bluetooth.
  • Ability to travel internationally approximately 10-20% of the year for project and supplier meetings

Preferred qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with connected TV platforms and architecture, design principles and associated compliance requirements
  • Understanding of connected TV manufacturing process and TV operating systems
  • Experience in picture processing and tuning methods and testing such as white balance, color and luminance, picture tuning for brightness, contrast, resolution , sharpness and noise reductions
  • Understanding of basic TV and display monitor principles, audio and video processing and tuning of picture and audio parameters
