Job Summary
The Senior PC Desktop Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving a wide variety and range of PC, printer, and software problems. Resolve problems on multiple operating systems (including Win2k, XP and Vista), vendor software packages, network configurations and homegrown applications. Stage, configure, set-up, and upgrade new desktops, laptops and peripherals, including imaging and deployment of this equipment to SVH corporate campus and field offices. Coordinates the installation of new computers and acts as the lead resource in resolving software application issues on the desktop. Coordinate and plan desktop moves with building services and telecommunications services. Manage the software media library for server and software applications. Insure SVH desktop procurement standards are followed. Support end-users on hardware and software related peripherals. Provide technical expertise/training experience to staff and to end-users as needed to resolve equipment

Essential Functions
Installs new applications and system upgrades in an optimal manner to minimize the effect on current production activities. Supports other staff members as needed. Participates in the system analysis and general design stages of microcomputer projects. Troubleshoots problems on networked and standalone microcomputer systems. Assists in the planning, installation, and management of Netware and NT file servers and networks. Assists the user to resolve hardware/software problems. Codes, unit tests, and documents microcomputer software programs. Improves working knowledge of current industry technology including applications and hardware/software systems. Assists in the preparation and coordinates the distribution and implementation of software releases and user documentation. Coordinates with mainframe support staff and users to install and support microcomputer connections to mainframe, including installation of emulation software. Works closely with clients to define projects and manage their expectations. Maintain current knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures related to PC desktop support. Complies with all SRH Policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or related area preferred.

Experience/Training
Minimum six years of demonstrated technical and job experience. Advanced understanding of application concepts, practices and procedures related to PC desktop support and problem resolution.

License/Certifications
Certification in A+, Certification in MCP, or CNA is preferred.

Other Skills
Demonstrated technical proficiency with Microsoft technologies on the desktop. Demonstrate proficiency with the following technologies: Win2k, DNS, DHCP, AD, and Security policies and best practices. Must be able to identify and resolve client difficulties and to provide clear, direct verbal/phone support. Ability to troubleshoot technical problems not previously encountered. Highly motivated to maintain technical knowledge awareness and to take the initiative in project leadership. Interacts favorably with people and can work effectively on a team. Ability to communicate on interpersonal and technical levels both verbally and in writing and to work positively in a team environment.

Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
