Description

The prestigious New York Athletic Club, one of the world's premier private clubs, founded in 1868 and located on Central Park South in Manhattan is seeking a regular full-time Director of Food and Beverage. The Director of Food and Beverage will be responsible for overseeing all foodservice operations in the Club, including Banquets, two full service restaurants, three bars, a seasonal roof top, and Room Service. The position will ensure the highest level of member services and will be responsible for the financial performance of the operation including budgets, managing labor, product costs, and other expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Food and Beverage will work closely with the Director of Catering and Special Events, the Executive Chef, Restaurant managers, Beverage manager as well as other club administrators to achieve the overall objectives of the Club. Strong F&B knowledge, business planning, financial management, interpersonal skills and strong leadership skills will be required.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive F&B strategy aligned with the club's overall goals and objectives.
    • Oversee the creation of innovative menus, ensuring they cater to diverse tastes and dietary preferences.
  • Menu Development and Management:
    • Curate and update menus for all F&B outlets, ensuring a blend of classic and contemporary offerings.
    • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control to maintain high standards.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Direct day-to-day F&B operations, including dining rooms, banquets, bars, and catering services.
    • Ensure seamless service delivery in a 5-star hotel-like atmosphere.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the F&B budget, tracking expenses, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability.
    • Implement effective inventory management and procurement practices.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and licensing requirements.
    • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation throughout all F&B areas.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing F&B team, promoting a culture of excellence and guest satisfaction.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Guest Experience Enhancement:
    • Foster a culture of exceptional guest service, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
    • Address guest feedback and implement necessary changes to enhance the overall dining experience.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive F&B management experience in a 5-star hotel or private club setting.
  • Strong understanding of fine dining service, beverage programs, and culinary trends.
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
