Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Deputy Director of the Emergency Food and Nutrition Assistance Program. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, management, and coordination skills to oversee the program's operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of program operations to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Manage the coordination of services and implement administrative and operational monitoring and control to ensure full utilization of all food-related services provided by the City.
  • Serve as a liaison with the community to connect programs to funds and services and establish collaborations within emergency food networks.
  • Provide direction to EFAP contracted vendors to ensure accurate facilitation and tracking of food deliveries to emergency food programs and resolve discrepancies when necessary.
  • Manage the process of awarding food allocations to eligible emergency food programs by reviewing relevant data and ensuring appropriate funding distribution through various neighborhoods.
  • Analyze program participation and research relevant data to coordinate services and prepare statistical reports.
  • Conduct analyses of individual program capacity as well as neighborhood supply gaps to determine appropriate levels of funding.
  • Maintain a catalogue of community-based organizations, providing relevant information and technical assistance to ensure efficient program operations.
  • Review reports and manage network feedback gathered from staff activity, as well as surveys, to make program and policy recommendations.
  • Respond to information requests from agency management and external entities by collecting data and preparing/providing accurate summaries/reports.
  • Represent the agency by participating in meetings and having relevant discussions that provide clarity of agency policies and program goals.
Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Four years of satisfactory, full-time community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, at least two years of which must have been in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, developing, evaluating and/or administering a large community service program or activity.
