Job Description Summary

The University of South Alabama's department of College of Medicine - Continuing Medical Education is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Continuing Medical Education. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Works closely with the Director, CME to develop, manage, and administer a wide range of CME activities that support the professional development of health care providers, professionals, and the healthcare team.
  • Serves to enhance the Office of Continuing Medical Education's ability to meet its mission, increase visibility, and broaden its scope of offerings.
  • Collaborates with the Director of CME, USA departments, faculty, staff, and external partners to produce activities in compliance with Joint Accreditation criterion, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards for Integrity and Independence, other continuing education requirements, the Office of CME policies, and University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine mission and policies.
  • Works closely with the Director in assuring accreditation standards are met and maintained by adhering to the ever-evolving national accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Pays attention to details, maintains proper documentation, and disseminates information clearly and concisely.
  • Ensures compliance with accrediting bodies and adheres to internal University policies and procedures, including those that govern the management of the University's continuing medical education program, including but not limited to: the Office of Continuing Medical Education Policy and Procedures, University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine's Mission, and Policies and Procedures Acts as e proxy for the Director in their absence.
  • Collaborates with the Director to sustain, promote, and expand departmental programming and visibility.
  • Participates in strategic planning and presides over these meetings es needed.
  • Maintains and manages online Continuing Medical Education (CME) database of events. attendees, and multiple types of credit.
  • Participates in event planning, coordination, and implementation.
  • Assists in the management of the College of Medicine Appointed CME Committee, the CME Advisory Council, and the CME Coordinator Committee
  • Develops and tracks project timelines and deliverables.
  • Creates and manages the calendar of activities.
  • Manages departmental budget.
  • Travels and attends CME sponsored events as needed. Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
