Banner Health's Thunderbird Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Progressive Care / Telemetry Unit. This is our 4th Floor, Neuro Unit, that focuses on stroke and total care patients Telemetry experience is preferred, however, we will consider all areas of nursing and train a new to service nurse. We are currently seeking experienced PCU Nurses but at this time we are accepting application for those that have Telemetry, ICU, Home Health, Skilled Nursing, Medical/Surgical or any other acute or critical care background.

As a PCU RN Operations Support Specialist you will supports 140 bed department with education, quality, and onboarding as well as care for a wide variety of patients as well as help . While 4 South specializes in Neuro, you will see many other types of patients as well. Having patients with a multitude of disease processes will give you a great basis, and our nurses come out of training having an extensive knowledge of a high acuity patient population. You will also have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.

Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
