The Medical Records Specialist will pull charts, prepare charts and file charts. The incumbent will scan correspondence into IMPACT. Process all Releases of Information. Will perform all daily medical records needs. May check in scheduled and add-on patients to the clinic, answer telephone and route calls, enter demographic, insurance and charge data into system. Check patients out of the clinic and perform patient follow-up as necessary. May perform other clerical duties as needed.

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:High School Diploma or equivalent required. Three (3) years in a medical records area required.

Must: (1) enter 6,000 keystrokes per hour; (2) possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management; (3) be able to perform math & bookkeeping skills

Ability to multitask and work in high volume/pressure settings. Must be able to lift heavy objects.

Successful completion of all IDX classes, IMPACT, and scanning is required. A maximum of two attempts will be given for IDX. Failure to pass all IDX classes by the second attempt will result in termination of employment.This position is responsible for handling cash as well as other types of payments and will be held accountable for following all procedures and protocol related to issuing receipts, making deposits and documenting transactions appropriately and within the required timeframes. Any violation of the procedures or protocol, as well as any missing monies or inaccurate reporting, will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Successful completion of credit check, using banking industry criteria, is required in determining the eligibility of candidates.
