Position Overview:

The Records Management and Information Governance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the management of records within the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. This role encompasses the entire lifecycle of records management, ensuring the protection of sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive records management program.
  2. Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements regarding the management of records.
  3. Collaborate with service line records liaisons to coordinate records management activities.
  4. Conduct audits and assessments to monitor compliance and effectiveness of records management practices.
  5. Maintain an in-depth understanding of relevant federal laws and regulations related to records management.
  6. Utilize metrics and reporting tools to identify and address potential issues within the records management framework.
  7. Engage in site evaluations to assess the overall effectiveness of the records management program.
  8. Prepare detailed reports and action plans based on findings from assessments.
  9. Work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Work Schedule: Standard hours, Monday through Friday.

Position Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Compliance with Selective Service Registration for applicable individuals.
  • Background and security investigations may be required.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-09, including responsibilities such as ensuring compliance with recordkeeping regulations and conducting audits.

Additional Information:

Federal employees accrue annual leave based on tenure. Eligible displaced federal employees may receive selection priority through specific transition assistance programs.
