JOB SUMMARY
Works in the Office of Athletics as the lead staff member supporting the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the middle school athletics program. Under the direction of the Coordinator of Athletics, provides oversight of this program and the associated positions at the school level, to include middle school athletics managers and coaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
* Serves as the lead staff member liaising with AACPS middle school administration and support staff, Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks staff, and other related offices and groups in order to facilitate the middle school athletics program.
* Creates and regularly updates handbooks, coaching contracts, schedules, websites, and other related documents and resources.
* Manages middle school athletics budgeted funds, to include all related purchases and county contracts.
* Sets the agenda for, facilitates, and keeps minutes for athletic manager meetings.
* Develops and facilitates coach meetings and professional development each season.
* Plans and facilitates end-of-season culminating events for middle school athletics.
* Provides oversight for the middle school athletics technician position.
* Participates in collaborative work with the high school athletics program as appropriate.
* Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
* Bachelor's Degree in Education Administration, Athletic Leadership, or Special Education from a regionally accredited college or university required;
* Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Experience
* Three (3) years professional experience as an athletic director, assistant athletic director, coach or a related athletic leadership required; and
* Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
* Knowledge AACPS and other related/relevant athletics guidelines and regulations.
* Excellent organization and communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to train and/or assist staff as required.
* Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school board staff, students, parents and community.
* Ability to conduct effective meetings and/or present to a wide variety of groups.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
* Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
* Hold or be eligible for Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries Course issued by AACPS required; and
* Hold or be eligible for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification issued by American Heart Association, Inc (AHA) or American Red Cross authorized training centers required.
* Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
* Daily access to reliable transportation.
