Responsibilities

* Answers multi-line telephones, takes messages and schedules new patient appointments.
* Schedules appointments and testing as requested and instructs the patient.
* Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
* Maintains and updates current demographic and insurance information.
* Type's letters, memos or other correspondence as requested.
* Greets patients and public in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner.
* Verifies necessary information such as insurance and authorizations and records it appropriately.
* Documents information regarding patient appointments and testing in appointment notes, order notes and clinic notes.
* Operates the fax machine, printers and copy machine.
* Notify outside facilities with appropriate patient information and documentation.
* Change toner on the copier, call for service or maintenance of equipment.
* Communicate verbally and by GEMMS messaging regarding patient appointments, testing and care with clinical staff.
* Maintains order status in GEMMS.
* Maintains GEMMS messages in a timely manner.
* Obtains authorization for appointments and testing.
* Collect co-pay and other payments from patients and log appropriately.
* Complete payment batch out daily and forward to appropriate staff.
* Float as needed.
* Follow check-out policy and procedure.
* Attend staff meetings.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

* High school graduation or GED
* Graduation from a business school/college and/or business courses helpful.
* Word processing and computer experience

Preferred Requirements:

* Prefer one year experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
