This job is a very unique PA position, as you will work in 3 different patient care areas: inpatient unit, outpatient clinic, and operating room. Our Physician Assistants are given the opportunity to work as a first assist in the operating room, while also alternating weeks in the inpatient unit and clinic. You will also enjoy great the comradery of being part of a team of 6 PAs.
Surgical Oncology at Mercy in Baltimore, Maryland is widely recognized for its highly skilled cancer surgeons - known throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region for their exceptional skill and years of surgical experience in treating patients with various types of cancer, including skin cancer, liver cancer, thyroid cancer, pancreatic cancer, and abdominal and stomach cancers.
Surgical Oncology at Mercy is one of the many premier cancer programs within The Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant provides all clinical care in coordination with physicians to patients in Surgical Oncology. This care includes, but is not limited to,
Physical exam and assessment of surgical oncology patients in the office
Assistance in surgery
Rounding on the inpatient floor
Triage of patients on the telephone, post-operatively, and in the office
Assistance with ordering of diagnostic tests as needed
Assisting physicians with procedures
Qualifications:
Requirements
The Physician Assistant will demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department. The PA must evidence the ability to apply these principles is assessing and interpreting patient information. The Physician Assistant will have a delegation agreement with Surgical Oncologists.
Must possess a Physician Assistant degree from an accredited school.
Two years of experience as a practicing PA preferred.
Must possess a State of Maryland Physician Assistant License, in good standing.
Certification Requirements: CPR.
Must possess skills in the use of various computers and software programs.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
