The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Surgical First Assistant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist licensed Surgeons and/or physicians in the Cardiac Surgery department, providing professional support and surgical assistance.
  • Perform a range of tasks, including tissue handling, chest tube insertions, and closure of incisions.
  • Harvest veins for bypass procedures and prepare for bypass operations.
  • Visit pre- and post-operative patients to monitor their progress and provide support.
  • Assist in emergency procedures and clinical tasks, demonstrating expertise and professionalism.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a reputable Physician Assistant Training Program.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certifying Physician's Assistants.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of patient care principles and practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
