Position: The Facilities Assistant will assist the Director of Operations in the daily functions of the Operations Department to maintain a clean, safe, and functional working environment for our staff, with specific emphasis on physical building maintenance, supplies and physical organization, and other fundamental operations functions . KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Possesses relevant knowledge of and experience with a variety of trade skills and tools, including at minimum, drywall, painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and power and hand tools.

  • Familiar with a wide array of materials, equipment, and supplies needed for maintenance and replacement of common fixtures and fittings in standard office space.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attends and participates in all mandatory meetings.
  • Fosters positive relationships with community members and partner organizations.
  • Participate in cultural and community-building activities/events.
  • Works to incorporate into organizational culture best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care.
  • Performs basic tasks including painting, maintenance repairs, and other organizational facility needs.
  • Conducts maintenance checks according to the Annual Maintenance Calendar.
  • Conducts performance assessments of company appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, ovens, and coffee makers.
  • Detects, reports the need for major maintenance repairs. Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment, or appliances.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Carries out or arranges repairs to plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Provide support and guidance on maintaining ACE equipment.
  • Completes Facilities Operations Maintenance tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Communicates with the Director of Operations and other Operations Staff as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in trade or handyman work.
  • Working knowledge of basic building and construction systems including but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, and framing, as well as basic hand and power tools.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn email, texting, phone applications, and other technology tools.
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance. 
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check. 
  • Initial TB employment clearance is required.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $25/hr to $28/hr.  The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
