Leadership & Social Justice Program Manager

- Oversee the development, coordination, and execution of social justice programming and events that include but are not limited to The Kathy Duffy Espy Leadership for Social Change (LSC) program, Bright Futures program, the YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, civic engagement & GOTV efforts, alumni engagement events, and other LSJ community events.
- Facilitate signature empowerment and social-justice based programs (Leadership for Social Change and Bright Futures) for young professional women, girls, and gender-expansive leaders. Create annual correspondence schedule for communication with program participants and alumni, volunteers, community leaders, funders and key stakeholders. Manage the LSC application and selection process. Create presentation materials, program surveys, monthly newsletters and participant correspondence. Responsible for purchasing and inventorying program supplies, event décor, catering, and other material goods.
- Devise community outreach and engagement efforts by developing and maintaining partnerships to promote and deliver social justice education, and participating in community-facing fairs, events, meetings, and other opportunities to recruit participants and partners.
- Create and advise on internal and external communications related to social justice and empowerment, including newsletters, educational videos, social media posts and more, on behalf of Leadership and Social Justice Department. Advise on annual and monthly LSJ marketing strategy with the Marketing & Communications Team.
- Maintain program databases and participant information. Monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness through data collection and assessment for all empowerment programs and special events, and produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle to LSJ Director. Identify areas for improvement, implementing and managing changes to ensure program goals are achieved in areas including participant satisfaction, short and long-term outcomes, quality and performance.
- Supervise and coach the Program Coordinator and support their coordination of the Bright Futures program. Assess performance and establish professional development goals, providing mentorship and inspiring team collaboration. Oversee the training, coordination, and performance of empowerment program interns and volunteers.
- Support the Director in budget preparation, monitoring, and approval of purchased goods, services, supplies and staff travel. Process and prepare monthly purchasing report. Identify funding sources, write funding proposals and prepare reports in compliance with department leadership.
- Gather and provide information about relevant trends for planning related to program/service goals, objectives and policies. Identify opportunities for professional development and attend trainings and seminars as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of justice, equity, liberation, and empowerment.
- Bachelor's degree in political science, social sciences, education, public policy, or related field; or equivalent, relevant experience.
- Familiarity with racial and gender issues, system oppression, and intersectionality.
- Minimum 1 year experience managing and motivating staff and/or volunteers.
- Minimum 1 year experience facilitating group programs, preferably for women and girls, and other marginalized communities.
- Ability to plan, implement, lead and evaluate collaborative projects.
- Willingness to work shifted schedules and extended evening and weekend hours, as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to represent the organization across a wide range of stakeholders, including public speaking, facilitation, leading trainings and workshops.
- Experience developing social justice, community organizing, and/or leadership programming.
- Experience building relationships and partnerships with organizations, ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse colleagues, community groups, community groups, and volunteers with cultural humility.
- Proficient with basic computer activities, email, Canva, Survey Monkey, and Microsoft Suite.
