Salary: 112,000 to 125,000 DOE

Employment Status: Full-Time

Reports To: Chief of Staff

Position Summary
The Director of Operations ensures all Museum operations (facilities, food service, and security) function optimally, with the highest standards of quality and guest service, and in accordance with MOTB’s strategic and financial objectives, budget guidelines, mission, and core values. This Director works within the Museum daily and coordinates with vendor leadership to ensure quality, proactively anticipate issues and address any situations immediately and effectively. He/she will also be strategic in planning for and implementing service and quality improvements. He/she will be responsible for vendor selection and oversight as well as the operations budget.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with Chief of Staff to develop and implement short-and long-term operational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness
  • Identify and drive key criteria for success, and implement changes required for improvement
  • Focused on daily accountability for performance; go-to Museum contact to address any operational problems, deficiencies and complaints
  • Oversee the performance of vendors/team and promptly provide feedback
  • Monitor all operational activities to ensure that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls are enforced throughout the Museum
  • Keeps informed of all new developments within MOTB and make recommendations to ensure success
  • Plan, organize, and monitor the budget/forecast in collaboration with the Director of FP&A.
  • Negotiate and review vendor agreements; review and approve vendor invoices for payment
  • Update and maintain Museum emergency policies and procedures, including coordination with Security and Human Resources for staff training
  • Continuously seeking cost improvements without compromising Museum objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Knowledge

Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) required; advanced degree preferred

Years of Experience: At least 8 years of high-level operations experience in a large organization, in a Museum or hospitality industry preferred

Proven track record of making both strategic and tactical operational improvements, with metrics-driven results.

Skills / Core Competencies

  • Extensive experience with planning, budgeting, and project management for operations
  • Knowledge of union as well as non-union working environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and agreements with clients and partners.
  • Must possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English required and Spanish as a second language is preferred.

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible
  • As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.
