Job Title: Director of Estimating

Position Overview
The Director of Estimating will be responsible for overseeing all estimating activities, ensuring accurate and competitive project bids, and developing processes to optimize the department’s performance. This individual will lead a team of estimators, collaborate with sales and operations teams, and play a key role in securing profitable projects that align with the company’s goals.

Key Responsibilities


  • Leadership: Manage and mentor the estimating team, fostering a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration.
  • Bid Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of bids for flooring projects, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and competitiveness.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement estimating processes, tools, and strategies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Risk Analysis: Evaluate project scopes and identify potential risks to ensure informed decision-making during the bidding process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales, project management, and operations teams to align estimates with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing to maintain competitiveness.
  • Quality Control: Review and approve final estimates, ensuring all details are accurate and align with company standards.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior leadership on bid activity, success rates, and department performance.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and suppliers to support business development efforts.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating, preferably in the flooring or construction industry.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of flooring materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Measure, Planswift) and MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
