Position Overview

As the Chief of Staff at GST, you will play a pivotal role in balancing strategic thinking with swift execution. Your ability to bring clarity, control, and structure to ambiguous environments is essential. You thrive on innovative ideas and aren’t afraid to share your insights. As a strategic advisor and operational leader, you will enhance communication across departments, align key stakeholders, and drive critical initiatives.

We seek a highly organized, analytical, and results-driven individual who excels in managing complex projects and coordinating cross-functional teams. Your skill in articulating intricate concepts clearly will be vital to our success. This role is not just a position; it's a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of GST's evolution, adapting to the dynamic needs of our executives as the organization grows.

Duties And Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives to support the company's growth and vision, aligning workstreams to the bigger picture of elevating the sport’s stars, rivalries, consumption, and experience.

  • What this could look like: Outline the bigger picture (and associated timelines) and ensure each workstream/lead understands how they fit and what they are responsible for. Partner with relevant stakeholder groups, as well as conduct independent research and analysis on emerging opportunities, fan/partner/athlete feedback and industry trends, to inform strategic decision making.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, improving processes to ensure smooth execution and efficiency across functions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Act as a liaison and disseminate information to relevant stakeholders -- both internally and externally -- in a way that is clear and engaging. Represent the company in various settings, building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.

  • What this could look like: Internal communications from the President & COO and Founder to the rest of GST; prepare meeting agenda, materials, and briefings for engagements with external stakeholders.
Project Management: Lead and manage high-impact projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering on deadlines. Identify risks and roadblocks, deploying mitigating actions to ensure successful project delivery.

  • What this could look like: Take on projects independently from concept through execution to further GST’s strategic initiatives. Partner with partnerships, content, tech, racing, etc. to manage timelines and collaboration between groups while also offering insights, suggesting innovative approaches, and challenging assumptions. Execute bid process for event sites. Run design sprints/design thinking sessions to detangle challenges.
Executive Support: Provide direct support to the President & COO and Founder, including preparing presentations, conducting research, assisting in follow through on initiatives.

  • What this could look like: Attend strategic meetings to facilitate connections, collaboration, and alignment of activities that progress GST’s mission. Coordinate board meetings.
Fan and Athlete Experience: Contribute to designing and enhancing the fan and athlete experience, ensuring a memorable and positive interaction with the league.

  • What this could look like: Partner with department leads to identify opportunities for innovative fan experiences and develop content strategies with compelling narratives around key athletes to boost fan engagement and interest in the sport. Partner with Talent Management to support the creation of athlete development programs to ensure long-term success and help athletes understand their role as GST brand ambassadors. Evaluate the effectiveness of all new initiatives and make necessary adjustments.
Innovation and Change Management: Be the driver of innovation and manage organizational changes effectively, ensuring the company adapts to new opportunities and challenges.

  • What this could look like: Coordinate post-meet debriefs to outline what will be addressed or enhanced for the next meet. Onboard new executives/team leaders. Establish internal GST watchwords/values/operating principles to give a shared language and expectations to all employees.
Cultural Development: Build and maintain a positive and inclusive organizational culture, fostering a sense of belonging aligned with the company's values and mission.
