Job Summary

The University of California Los Angeles seeks a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Staff to join the Vice Chancellor's Office. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in all University activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the CFO on policies, initiatives, and operational issues pertaining to the campus.
  • Represent the CFO in discussions with campus senior leadership.
  • Make decisions on behalf of the VC CFO.
  • Direct and manage the assignment of action items to senior administrators.
  • Help the Vice Chancellor & CFO manage their priorities.
  • Provide analytical support and leadership on various projects of importance to the campus.
Requirements
  • At least twelve (12) years of high-level administration experience advising senior management and/or overseeing complex programs and projects at a large company or public institution.
  • At least ten (10) years experience in management, supervisory, or leadership positions that demonstrate the ability to effectively supervise, delegate, communicate, mentor, and solve problems.
  • Thorough knowledge of the legal constraints and opportunities for higher education in the State of California and through Federal programs and regulations.
  • Excellent ability to establish mission and goals at the macro-level to lead subordinate management to develop goals in alignment with mission.
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to write clear and concise reports, policies, and correspondence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or professional degree in relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the University of California Office of the President, university-wide and campus organizational structures.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation. A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
