The opportunity

The person hired into this role in the United States will need to work out of our Parsippany, NJ office three days a week.

We are seeking a Senior Director – Head of Architecture and Technology to lead and develop the Enterprise Architecture (EA) practice at Teva. Reporting to the VP of IT Operations and Architecture, this highly visible role involves collaborating with IT leadership, stakeholders, and delivery teams to impact Teva's strategy through cutting-edge technologies.

How you’ll spend your day
  1. EA Practice Management
    ⦁ Develop the EA practice and team, creating value propositions and service offerings.
    ⦁ Design the EA operating model, balancing enterprise risk and agility.
  2. Strategy Formulation and Execution
    ⦁ Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to develop and implement strategic plans.
    ⦁ Connect strategy to execution by aligning IT and business goals.
    ⦁ Identify and refine technological innovations and trends.
    ⦁ Implement new technologies and conduct trials to integrate successful innovations.
  3. Relationship Building
    ⦁ Establish the EA function as an advisory entity within Teva.
    ⦁ Manage cross-functional relationships and provide strategic advice.
    ⦁ Support IT portfolio modernization and roadmap development.
    ⦁ Ensure alignment with EA while optimizing technologies and methodologies.
Your experience and qualifications
  1. A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, system analysis, business, or another related area.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of IT and architectural team experience within medium to large companies.
  3. Minimum of 4 years in a lead role, such as head of Enterprise Architecture (EA) or Chief Architect, in medium to large enterprises, including managing the EA group.
  4. More than ten years’ experience across at least three disciplines including, but not limited to, business, solution, or technical architecture, application development, middleware, data analysis, database management, cloud operations within a complex environment.
  5. At least three years of expertise in public cloud technologies like Azure and AWS, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses in the cloud, as well as both Traditional AI and Generative AI.
  6. Considerable history of working with global tech vendors and startups alike, demonstrating a strong track record in technology evaluation and assessment.
  7. Considerable history of applications portfolio management.
Skills
  1. Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit and trade-off analysis, budgeting, and risk management.
  2. Knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, predictive analytics, AI and GenAI.
  3. Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks.
  4. Understanding of the different types of agile principles, methodologies and frameworks, especially those designed to be scaled at enterprise level.
  5. Understanding of existing, new and emerging technologies, such as generative AI and its applications.
  6. Knowledge of all components of EA, business and IT principles, and processes.
  7. Familiarity with EA tools, graphical modeling approaches and repository management.
  8. Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills.
  9. Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  10. Strong leadership and consulting skills.
  11. Ability to balance long-term and short-term organizational goals.
  12. Innovative and collaborative, with a vendor-neutral approach.
