Position Summary
The Head of Information Technology Operations is responsible for providing technical and procedural guidance to support teams, ensuring the maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, and exploring and implementing strategic technological advancements. This role is essential in establishing and sustaining a resilient infrastructure with a focus on scalability, availability, and security.
This position serves as a technical escalation point for IT Support and is responsible for administration, capacity planning, and the implementation of new technologies while maintaining existing systems and ensuring IT security. Additionally, this role participates as a technical resource for significant projects, ensuring infrastructure security across all technological layers and offering insights and recommendations as necessary. The position leads the implementation of security-centric solutions and ensures compliance with relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhances organizational effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for the deployment of information technologies.
- Guides technological research by analyzing organizational goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
- Completes projects by coordinating resources and timelines with user departments and data centers.
- Safeguards assets by establishing disaster recovery and backup procedures along with information security and control frameworks.
- Advises on information technology strategies and procedures by assessing organizational outcomes, identifying issues, evaluating trends, anticipating needs, and ensuring compliance with security best practices.
- Leads teams in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving system issues while deploying new technologies as required.
- Consistently demonstrates an understanding of security standards in daily operations and solutions as outlined in the Information Security policies.
- Ensures adherence to regulatory compliance in all aspects of data utilization and information access.
- Stays informed about emerging security threats and mitigation strategies, conducting periodic security assessments of assigned areas.
- Ensures all proposed changes adhere to the Change Management policy for production modifications.
- Limits access to protected health information (PHI) to the minimum necessary for assigned duties.
- Reports any security or compliance violations promptly to the appropriate authorities.
- Utilizes, protects, and discloses patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with applicable standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT.
- Extensive knowledge of VMware, SAN Storage, Microsoft Operating Systems, Cisco Network Switches, Brocade Fiber Switches, and EMC Data Domain.
- Familiarity with encryption methods and protocols for data protection.
- Previous experience in environments handling electronic protected health information (ePHI) under HIPAA and HITECH regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in computer hardware, software, and network service installation and administration.
- Exceptional critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be self-driven, adaptable, and capable of performing well under pressure with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and on-call as necessary.
- Occasional travel to other company locations may be required.
- Physical Demands: The role may require moving around the work area, sitting, performing manual tasks, and operating office equipment.
- Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow instructions, collaborate effectively, and manage stress.
- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is typically low.
