As the Chief Architect, you will be responsible for overarching architectural strategy, designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure solutions using the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack. In addition to your expertise in full-stack development, you will also drive our DevOps strategy, optimizing our CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation processes. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding our engineering teams, aligning technology initiatives with business goals, and ensuring seamless integration of modern technologies. This is an exciting opportunity for a purposeful leader with experience in leading large-scale technology programs, particularly within the travel & hospitality, B2C and cloud computing domains.

Responsibilities:

Architectural Leadership:

  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable and high-performance applications using the MERN stack while ensuring that the architecture aligns with business goals.
  • Lead UI-focused discovery sessions to capture detailed requirements and identify potential challenges.
  • Define and enforce best practices for code quality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Oversee the integration of front-end and back-end components, ensuring smooth and efficient data flow.
  • Guide the UI development process, defining best practices and advocating for user-centered design principles.

DevOps Strategy & Implementation:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive DevOps strategy, focusing on CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead the adoption of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead strategic technical discussions with the senior stakeholders to align technology strategy with business strategy
  • Own and drive key design decisions and guide the architectural direction of the overall program
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams in best practices for both development and operations.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and operations teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Participate in resource planning and provide technical insights for project pricing adjustments.
  • Lead code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making processes.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure the implementation of security best practices across all stages of the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Continuously improve and refine development and operational processes for greater efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture, with a strong focus on the MERN stack.
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and containerization.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services.
  • Experience in UI architecture, particularly with React.js and large-scale web projects preferably in Travel & Hospitality domain
  • Expertise in modern web technologies and design tools (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Figma, Sketch)
  • Proficient in designing and managing scalable, distributed systems and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic technical decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Background in the travel industry or similar domains with complex user interaction models.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead design solutions in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with serverless architecture and edge computing
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages (Python, Go, etc.)
  • Experience with data-driven architecture and analytics platforms
  • Experience with AEM, SFMC platforms
