As part of a hardworking team of diverse policy experts, you will support Blue Origin’s strategic legislative priorities. You will lead the team’s impact on all aspects of civil space legislation. The Government Relations team you’re joining interfaces with national and local legislative bodies and executive agencies. You will develop and implement the strategy to shape legislation in support of team objectives. This includes crafting messaging and materials and representing Blue Origin and its policy interests with external and internal stakeholders. This position reports to the Vice President of Government Relations. You and the team interface directly with company leadership, as well as the business units, communications, legal and sales teams. Additional duties include leading USG engagements, managing external consultants, and supporting strategy for the Blue Political Action Committee. Strong knowledge of USG space programs, budgets and history, relationships with relevant congressional stakeholders, and experience leading and implementing legislative strategy are required for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 7+ years of congressional experience or related partnership experience with local/state government, C level executives, or similar.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful legislative strategies
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
  • Able to support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with Members of Congress, agency leadership, VIPs and representing Blue Origin with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills for tracking government programs and budgets, and congressional issues, while meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of NASA space programs and budgets
  • Proficient in the Congressional Budget processes
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Degree in political science or related field
  • Knowledge of commercial space industry

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
