Requirements:

Summary

Responsible for leading and sustaining a line by performing equipment change-over technical services and supportive line duties, such as Tube Filler Operator or line packing, as needed, following SOPs and GMPs. The Set-up Technician carries out product changeovers, and machine settings to accommodate packaging components, adjusts machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operation, and resolves problems while the product is running.

Essential Functions

· Monitor equipment while running to assure optimal quality and throughput.

· Provide line personnel with guidance on how to operate the equipment.

· Basic knowledge of packaging equipment to conduct minor troubleshooting and correct issues.

· Inform maintenance technician and supervisor of potential equipment issues/failures.

· Disassemble/Assemble filling/packaging equipment as necessary.

· Set Lot/Batch numbers and expiration on production packaging based on current lot numbers and expiration dates

· Tool must be organized and clean and free of unnecessary parts.

· Keep and maintain work area clean.

· Prepare equipment for cleaning by dismantling and then reassembling equipment post cleaning according to Equipment Cleaning SOP. Example, filling equipment changeover parts, hoppers and machine surfaces.


Additional Responsibilities of the Position Include:

  • Must be able to work different working schedule as deemed by business necessity.
  • Must be able to work extra hours with advance and occasional minimal advance notification deemed by business needs.
  • Must be able to read and write in English and fill out paperwork.
  • Ensure components have been properly audited after cleaning, cleaned tooling stored in designated changeover boxes and designated boxes put back into changeover box rack.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance and perform minor repairs together with maintenance personnel.
  • Support and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Document activities in Area/Equipment Logbook.
  • Notify Supervisor, Shift Lead and Plant Manager when equipment is ready for production.

Required Education and Experience

· HS Diploma or GED and two years packaging experience required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • High speed cartoning equipment.
  • Liquid, cream or ointment packaging experience.
  • Familiar with working with HMI’s
  • Automated case erectors.
  • Case taping machines.
  • Inkjet coding equipment.
  • Laser coding equipment.
  • FDA packaging experience.
