The Quality Improvement Specialist works under the supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer. Ensures adherence to compliance activities, policies and procedures, and regulatory standards and guidelines, analyze and communicate data, implement quality improvement interventions, and conduct internal monitoring and improve performance across the system of care: infrastructure, care delivery and workforce. The Quality Improvement Specialist perform training in all aspects for quality improvement for DRCHC.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains a knowledge of federal, state and/or local regulatory requirements related to healthcare, inclusive of the Office of Public Health School-based Health Centers (SBHC) quality monitors, The Joint Commission, Bureau of Primary Health Care/Health Resources and Administration (HRSA), and OSHA, etc.
  • The QI specialist will serve as a knowledge expert in the model for improvement.
  • Assists with facilitation of required committees, e.g., Quality Improvement Committee, Quality Improvement Subcommittee and Risk Management Committee, and reporting and maintenance of detailed minutes/records and/or reports.
  • Works closely with directors/managers and staff to identify focused and risk areas for improvement and implement strategies necessary to increase compliance of identified measures and/or needs.
  • Continuously monitors quality improvement reports, performs adequate data/barrier analysis, identifies opportunities for improvement and develops performance improvement targets and recommendations across the organization.
  • Performs required scheduled health center assessments through surveillance rounds,
  • Identifies, and tracks significant outcomes, risk assessments/mitigation measures.
  • Conducts chart/health record audits related to quality measures, attorney/court subpoenas, ensures quality measure and risk goals, objectives, outcomes, accreditation, and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Facilitates onsite reviews by external payors/auditors.
  • Attends training meetings, conference calls, and web-based programs pertaining to QI as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Require a degree or license in relevant healthcare field (nursing, public health, and other relevant areas)

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in a clinical field working directly with individuals seeking care or teams providing care.
  • Should be well organized, self-directed, able to work independently, with the ability to interact, in a professional manner, with staff on all levels and the public.
  • Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in processes related to accreditation, compliance, federal and state/regulations (e.g., quality assurance) in health care is a plus.
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.
  • High functioning level of the overall MS-Office suite (Word, PPT), and Excel skills required.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

Preferred: Experience in FQHC
