Midwest Veterinary Supply is seeking a Shipping Team Lead for our Norristown, Pennsylvania location.


Job Summary:

The primary objective of this position is to provide the tools, directive, and motivation to all positions within the Shipping department so that it functions at maximum efficiency and represent the Company as it relates to corporate policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as a team leader for their respective branch’s Shipping department to encompass all duties performed. This person will not only provide the tools and directive necessary to perform at maximum efficiency, but also be available to perform any of those functions such as packing, pulling, confirming orders, double check orders, and receiving, on an as needed basis.
  • Answer questions related to products, policies, and procedures. Assist in the resolution of problems that may arise related to order processing.
  • Package all Hazmat and prepare proper documentation.
  • Make computer adjustments to include receipt of purchase orders, stock transfers and inventory in addition to other duties in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a team leader to shipping personnel. Reprimands for inappropriate performance may be at the discretion of the Team Leader but formal disciplinary action is done in cooperation with the Branch Manager and/or Warehouse Manager.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required

  • Supervisory experience is preferred

  • Experience within the veterinary industry is preferred

  • Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified is required

  • Ability to read, write and speak English

  • Superior listening and verbal communication skills to include the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and professionalism

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work accurately with highly detailed information

  • The ability to lead support positions to assure ultimate performance levels

Mental & Physical Demands:

  • A fast pace of work to meet frequent deadlines
  • Continuous contact with warehouse employees
  • Potential stress related to typical product shipping and handling problems and resolutions
  • Good vision related to detail on products and orders
  • Fast paced work at times to meet frequent deadlines
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete floors for extended periods of time
  • Physical capacity to perform any of the duties within this area of responsibility to include repetitive motion, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, standing and walking on a concrete floor, bending, twisting and climbing

Equipment Used:

Work performed may utilize an RF (Radio Frequency) scanner, forklift, PC workstation, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, barcode scanner, printers, scale, utility knife, and tape gun.

Work Environment:

Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required. Work will be performed indoors in a relatively temperature-controlled climate where moderate heat, cold or humidity may be experienced. Moderate exposure to dust and dirt may also be expected. May require handling of products with cautious warning labels. This is a safety sensitive position.
