SUMMARY:

The Bilingual (English/Spanish) Family Education Facilitator/ Child Development Specialist is responsible for the delivery and instruction of developmentally appropriate activities and child development education to families with young children, ages 0 to 5 years. This position acts as a support and facilitator to the program curriculum and other services provided.

Payrate: $20.00 per hour with a work schedule of 20 hours per week. Play groups are help Monday through Friday.

This position is located at our Great We Grow program, located 7002 W. Hanna Ave, Tampa, FL 33634

RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:

  • Plan and facilitate developmental playgroups with caregivers and their children between the ages of 0 – 5 years that promote positive adult/child interaction, child development and early childhood education to caregivers. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Prepare for playgroups by creating activities and positive shared experiences with available curriculum materials.
  • Organize & maintain program supplies for efficient access and inventory.
  • Complete accurate and timely data collection in support of program’s reporting, contract, grant, accreditation and agency requirements.
  • Attend staff meetings, on-going in-service training and reflective supervision as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in early child development, early childhood education, and/or related human services focusing on early childhood and families.
  • Relevant and extensive experience may substitute for Bachelor’s degree.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills (e.g., nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathetic, patient, tactful).
  • Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population that Champions for Children serves.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Flexible working hours (possible occasional Saturday for special event.)
  • Reliable vehicle, active auto insurance and valid Florida driver license may be required for occasional off-site business activities.
  • Successful completion of a Level 2 criminal background check, motor vehicle records check and preemployment drug screen.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, sit on floor, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; move materials up to 10 pounds on a regular basis; infrequently requiring moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
