Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis while managing the accounting personnel. This position requires a hands-on approach, including developing staff, preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations, maintaining and preparing various corporate monthly, quarterly and annual schedules and reports, and ensuring compliance with Company accounting policies is always maintained.

Essential functions of the Accounting Manager:

  • Prepare accurate, complete and timely financial closes
  • Maintain accurate general ledger transactions through journal entry review and periodic review of GL account coding from others within the company
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet accounts and amounts, ensuring proper reconciliations are completed on a timely and accurate basis
  • Timely and accurate reporting of all financial reports, both internal and external
  • Ensure the Controller is kept up to date regarding any potential accounting or staffing issues
  • Guide and supervise the accounting staff, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, with an emphasis on proper transaction approval, safeguarding of assets, and segregation of duties
  • Provide staff training within each staff member’s functional areas and perform staff evaluations
  • Plan, prioritize, direct and manage staff daily workload, assisting when necessary
  • Review, identify, train and resolve any weaknesses in staff work products
  • Back up other accounting team members when necessary
  • Prepare audit and tax schedules, as well as several other reports and schedules as necessary
  • Ensure all departmental policies and procedures are accurate and updated as necessary
  • Actively participate in creating and updating documentation for the department’s procedures and internal controls
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 5 years of progressive experience; general accounting in a manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on standard costing, (distribution is a plus)
    • 2+ years of public accounting experience (audit) preferred
  • CPA and/or CPA in progress preferred
  • Solid understanding and ability to apply accounting principles under GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including spreadsheet creation, pivot tables, Vlookups, graphs and maintenance
  • Demonstrated initiative and a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead and grow the Accounting team to meet the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual objectives
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and employees inside and outside of the department, while maintaining a high level of accessibility to support co-workers in day-to-day operations

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is anticipated to be between $3269.23 and $4038.46 biweekly.
