Job Description

The Systems Administrator I will service new and existing colocation and virtual accounts internationally. Candidates must be able to perform their job responsibilities and duties in a professional work environment analyzing issues that arrive via ticketing system, telephone, or e-mail. In addition, they must be able to quickly resolve customer issues or make the determination to escalate a support case when needed. Candidate must be highly motivated to handle multiple, complex issues at once. System Administrators need to have the ability to deal with internal and external persons, at all levels, throughout the support process to ensure customers’ needs are met.


Job Responsibilities

  • Learn the day-to-day data center responsibilities to include the following: Conduct daily rounds and assist in daily data center support including but not limited to, providing colocation client support, data center maintenance, cleaning, and engineering technical team support
  • Deploy all supplemental cooling in the event of an emergency
  • Manage and monitor third party contractors when they are on site for maintenance or repairs
  • Learn all physical infrastructure alerts and be able to identify critical alerts and provide the appropriate response
  • Understand all HVAC alerts, electrical alerts, and all security and fire suppression system alerts
  • Assist in writing and updating of documentation related to department responsibilities
  • Interact and coordinate respectfully with other departments to resolve customer issues
  • Interpret and prioritize customer requests and issues
  • Continually work with the team and ensure the security of all cloud platforms
  • Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records
  • Ensure compliance with company internal policies and customer policies
  • Recommend solutions to correct issues and faults
  • Participate in rotating "on call" schedule with other members of the team
  • Improve the hardware or software technology environment
  • Demonstrate and prove hardware or software technology concepts to other administrators
  • Occasional travel required
Requirements:
  • 1+ year of proven experience supporting and delivering IT services
  • Must be able to work on ladders, lift 50 pounds, and pull cable
  • Knowledge of virtualization, back-up, or disaster recovery platforms
  • Basic networking and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic knowledge of one or more: Zerto, Veeam or another backup platform, vCloud, VDI, ESXi
  • Basic knowledge of RAID, JBOD, NAS, SMB/CIFS
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system, services, and protocols
