Position Summary:

ISI is looking for an experienced construction safety and health professional with a background in construction of buildings (preferably hospitals) and expertise in the construction industry to provide owner's representative construction safety management services to a federal client in the healthcare industry. You will support a federal client looking to design-build a new Central Utility Plant. Duties include providing risk assessment and hazard identification, conducting regular site inspections, enforcing safety policies and procedures, maintain accurate records of accidents and safety inspections, and more. The position will support more senior government project managers and fellow contractor project managers, who will work as part of a more extensive design/construction program. The ability to lead and work as a team and independently is critical. ISI seeks an individual who communicates clearly, takes initiative, and embraces project ownership. This position may provide mentorship to junior teammates.

Responsibilities:

1. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:

- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards.

- Evaluate existing safety measures and recommend improvements.

2. Safety Policy and Procedures Implementation:

- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures.

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

3. Accident Investigation and Reporting:

- Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine causes and prevent future occurrences.

- Maintain accurate records of accidents and safety inspections.

4. Emergency Preparedness and Response:

- Develop and implement emergency response plans.

- Conduct drills and ensure that all workers are familiar with emergency procedures.

5. Safety Equipment Management:

- Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

6. Compliance Monitoring:

- Monitor adherence to safety protocols by all site personnel.

- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure ongoing compliance.

8. Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain comprehensive documentation of safety training, incidents, and inspections.

- Prepare and submit reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.

9. Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and workers to promote a safety-first culture.

- Serve as a point of contact for safety-related concerns and questions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification with at least three (3) years of construction industry safety program management experience

OR

  • Must have a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification with at least two (2) years of construction industry safety program management experience

OR

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in safety and health from an accredited university or college with at least three (3) years construction industry safety program management experience.
  • Licensure or Certification: OSHA 30 Construction Safety certification
  • Knowledge and Abilities: must have experience and specialized formal course in the hazard recognition control associated with high hazard work operations such as operations involving asbestos, electrical, cranes, demolition, working at heights/fall protection, fire safety/life safety, ladder, rigging, scaffolds, and trenches/excavations.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident with three (3) years or more of US work experience. Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical facilities experience.
  • CHST, CSP, Bachelor’s Degree in safety and health
