Position Summary:

This role involves delivering owner's representative safety management services for a federal client engaged in the design and construction of a new Central Utility Plant. Key responsibilities include performing risk assessments, identifying hazards, conducting regular site evaluations, enforcing safety regulations, and maintaining detailed records of incidents and safety audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Conduct frequent site evaluations to pinpoint potential risks and assess current safety measures, recommending enhancements as necessary.
  2. Implementation of Safety Policies: Formulate and enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Accident Investigation: Analyze incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences, while keeping accurate records of all safety inspections.
  4. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and execute emergency response strategies, conducting drills to ensure all personnel are well-versed in emergency protocols.
  5. Management of Safety Equipment: Ensure the proper availability and utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  6. Compliance Monitoring: Oversee compliance with safety protocols among all site personnel, performing regular audits and inspections.
  7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of safety training, incidents, and inspections, preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and workers to foster a culture prioritizing safety, serving as a resource for safety-related inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in safety program management within the construction sector.
  • OR Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification with at least two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in safety and health from an accredited institution, coupled with three (3) years of construction safety program management experience.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Safety certification is required.
  • Experience in hazard recognition and control related to high-risk operations such as asbestos handling, electrical work, crane operations, demolition, fall protection, fire safety, and excavation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident with a minimum of three (3) years of U.S. work experience and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical facility construction.
  • Possession of CHST, CSP certifications, or a Bachelor's degree in safety and health.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily office-based. The candidate must meet the physical demands necessary to perform essential job functions, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

  • Flexibility in work hours may be required based on project needs.
  • Occasional lifting of 5 – 15 pounds may be necessary.
  • Extended periods of sitting at a computer workstation are expected.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged durations.

Work Environment:

  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • This position requires onsite presence.
