JOB PURPOSE:

As the leader of the People Operations team, the HR Manager is accountable for the HR and office practices and processes for the Energy 1 family of companies. The HR Manager will also provide direction on and help support risk management, safety, and company culture. At Energy 1, our passion is to Demand Better. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HR Manager’s key accountability is the management of the People Operations team (HR and Office Staff). The HR Manager oversees all aspects of HR & Office practices & processes, safety, and promoting company values and shaping a positive culture to ensure a productive workplace.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Serve as a member of the Shared Services Leadership Team, working closely with the managers of Accounting, Payroll, and IT to provide effective leadership and direction for shared services and support the operations functions of the company.
  • Under the direction of the Leadership Team, create and execute HR strategies and initiatives (policies, process, technology) to support the organization’s culture and long-term goals.
  • Serve as the company safety manager, oversee the safety committee, and work closely with Construction Operations Management to implement safety training, procedures, and monitor compliance.
  • Meet regularly with risk management from insurance vendors to help reduce company safety risk and implement suggestions.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, and is accountable for proper documentation and standards.
  • Oversee the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and efficiency of employee onboarding and offboarding process.
  • Works closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure the HRIS software is accurate and functions smoothly.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains talent. Work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure benefit program compliance.
  • Accountable for the successful administration of the company’s trade apprenticeship programs.
  • Accountable for maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and for HR compliance and reporting, including ERISA, OSHA, FMLA, EEOC, and ADA.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Manage the Office Administration Staff and be accountable for their efficient and effective management of day-to-day office operations.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • College degree in Human Resources or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years human resources experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing an HR/Office team.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation, or ability/willingness to acquire designation in 12-months.
  • OSHA-30 HR certification, or ability/willingness to acquire certification within 6-months.
  • Preferred: Construction industry experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: communicate with others both physically present and on the telephone; sit and stand; move, use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects over 50 pounds.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to typically work an average of 40 hours per week in an office setting.
  • This position is in-office with a flexible schedule. The preferred location for this position is Bozeman, MT or Jackson, WY.
  • This position will require travel between the Bozeman, MT and Jackson, WY office (estimated once per quarter); occasional trips to site locations in Big Sky, MT, or Jackson, WY.
  • This FLSA exempt position may be requested to work evenings or weekends on occasion.
