YWCA Lancaster is looking for a full-time Chief Development Officer, who is an integral part of our Executive Leadership team.

This role reports to the CEO, is responsible for leading the fund development & community engagement initiatives and events, working with board members, and building relationships with donors, staff, and volunteers. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for all aspects of the YForward capital campaign. The CDO will be a part of our Executive Leadership team (CORE).

What your day looks like:

  • Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fund development plan annually which maintains the fiscal health of the organization and provides future financial resources for growth and expansion.
  • Methodologies include annual fund development and management, major gifts, planned to give, capital needs, donor prospecting, special events, specific fundraising initiatives, grant writing & management, membership opportunities and volunteer opportunities.
  • Responsible for leading efforts around donor stewardship to systematically inform, cultivate, enlist, and continuously upgrade donors.
  • Create regular donor/member appreciation, recognition, and cultivation practices and thank you letters to donors.
  • Explore, cultivate, and capture diverse revenue streams including sponsorships, strategic partnerships, and in-kind donations.

Communications & Marketing

  • Provides supervision to the Director of Communications and Marketing to ensure overall branding, image, accuracy, and consistency of messaging.

Grants

  • Provides supervision to the Grants Manager.
  • Coordinate with CEO to identify new grant opportunities.

Volunteers & Membership

  • Provides supervision to Volunteer/ Membership Coordinator, who oversees the volunteer program across the organization.

Community Connections

  • Present to businesses, social groups, etc. Involve YWCA Directors and staff when appropriate.
  • Perform networking at selected community and leadership events.
  • Keep abreast of community and societal developments through direct contact with staff of other agencies, participation in professional groups or meetings, and professional reading and research.

General Administration

  • Ensure the maintenance of constituent management software to track and manage donor information, gifts, and campaign progress. Ensure the constituent management software integrates with the communication platforms.
  • Analyze data to produce reports detailing progress, trends, and outcomes. Ensure accurate and timely record keeping.
  • This individual will be part of the Executive Leadership Team (CORE) and coordinate with other agency Directors to understand their community engagement plans and needs for financial support.
  • Along with HR, recruit, interview, hire and train new staff if applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities

  • Experience and knowledge of fundraising strategies, principles, and capital campaigns.
  • Management and volunteer management experience is a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers to include but not limited to written, verbal and public speaking.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MSOffice, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook, Boomerang, and Asana)
  • Excellent interpersonal, sales, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to delegate tasks when appropriate.
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer and leadership to staff.
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instruction given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of staff, volunteers, and partners.
  • Donor and volunteer service mentality.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of donor relations and fund development experience, preferably in education, business, marketing, nonprofit fields, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of success in implementing all aspects of annual fund giving, major gifts, planned to give, funding capital needs, donor prospecting, special events and specific fundraising initiatives. Capital campaign experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software and database and ability to maximize software for revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of Lancaster County required.
  • Experience motivating and working with Board and volunteer members and ability to handle confidential information are critical.
  • Physical ability to use a computer, access files, use other standard office equipment, and assist at special events.
  • Commitment to YWCA Lancaster mission required.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform the essentials job functions consistently, safely, and successfully.
  • Must be able to lift and carry to up 25lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel required; must have reliable transportation.
