General Job Description

The Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization's operational activities. They are responsible for analyzing various aspects of the supply chain, logistics, and procurement processes specifically tailored to serving military clients. This role demands a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of military procurement regulations and protocols.


Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Analysis: Determine the costs needed to negotiate with vendors to integrate a new brand into our portfolio.
  • Collaboration with Marketing and Purchasing: Work closely with the Marketing and Purchasing teams to calculate the cost required to bring products to market at the commissary.
  • Pricing, Promotions, and Data Integrity: Manage pricing, promotions, and ensure data integrity.Use web-based software packages, Global Data Synchronization software and NCR Power HQ.
  • Reporting: Generate and manage reports using OS400 query, Micro Strategies, Excel, and third-party software Circana. This includes bi-monthly reports and promotional results.
  • EDI Trading Partners: Communicate with and establish new EDI trading partners.Utilize EDI to manage data files for customer service, purchasing, and accounting teams.
  • Order Preparation and Logistics: Prepare weekly orders for shipping from third-party warehouse partners and assist with logistics and purchasing tasks.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to create actionable insights and performance metrics. Prepare regular management reports, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs), operational efficiency, and areas for improvement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as procurement, finance, sales, and customer service to align operational activities with broader business objectives. Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency gains proactively. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance the overall operational performance of the organization.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.If no degree, at least 5 years of relatable work experience.
  • 2+ years of previous experience in operations analysis, supply chain management, or logistics, preferably within the food industry or military procurement sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, Micro Strategies, or Tableau.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within tight deadlines.
