We are seeking an experienced Operations in the Information Environment (OIE) Specialist to join our team in Suffolk, Virginia. This position requires eligibility for a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance and extensive travel as a member of various Deployable Training Teams (DTTs). The successful candidate will provide observation, training, and feedback to Joint Force Commanders and their staffs during joint and multi-national training, exercises, and staff assist visits (SAVs).

The OIE Specialist will be responsible for planning and executing OIE operations at the theater operational and national strategic level. This includes integrating information across war fighting functions and domains, and synchronizing information with lethal and non-lethal fires and the targeting cycle. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of OIE and experience in fires and effects at the operational level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as an OIE subject matter expert and trainer in joint, multinational, interagency, and globally integrated exercises and operations.
  • Integrate into, contribute to, and provide functional continuity in the DTD's Fires and Effects Section.
  • Mentor, train, and support new OTs.
  • Participate as a member of Deployable Training Teams (DTTs) observing, training, and providing feedback to commanders and their staffs during Chairman's Exercise Program (CEP) exercises and other joint and multinational exercises.
  • Ascertains key command challenges at the operational and strategic levels of war and conducts cross-functional analysis of information gathered from joint exercises and training events for the development of lessons learned, insights, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • One of the following: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Joint Forces Staff College or Service equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of OIE and experience in fires and effects at the operational level.
  • Ability to write concisely at an executive level.
  • Must be willing to travel worldwide, to include areas considered hazardous duty (up to 30% of the time).
  • S. Citizen with an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance once aboard.
  • Must be able to attain a Company Travel Card.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Division, Afloat staff, or Wing staff experience.
  • Understanding of the requirements for staffs to support the commander's decision cycle.
  • Understanding of the Joint Planning Process (JPP).
  • Experience with the preparation and conduct of seminars or study groups for flag officers.
  • Ability to write and prepare operational orders and plans.
  • Experience in the compilation and presentation in both written and oral formats of lessons learned and after-action review material.
  • Experience with operational planning efforts at the operational and strategic levels.
