Position: Public Space Supervisor
Reports to: Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly
Southall Farm and Inn is a premier destination bringing nature, produce and people together in a powerful and unique way. The Public Space Supervisor will be the driving force for upkeep, cleanliness, smooth operation, and attention to detail throughout the property’s public space areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and experience in performing inspections, proper cleaning and disposal techniques, and safe handling of equipment and chemicals. This role will be responsible for holding all departments accountable with regard to the upkeep of all public space areas.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect the cleanliness of all guest-facing public space areas across the property, as well as administering the cleaning assignments for the Public Area Housekeeping teams.
- Helping to develop and refine detailed criteria / checklists for each Public Space area.
- Work with/coordinate with multiple departments including but not limited to Housekeeping, Grounds Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Guest Services, Spa, Banquets, etc.
- Conduct regular walking inspections and ensure all items are addressed.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact, coordinate and communicate through daily pre-shift meetings, opening the house, selection/training/supervising personnel, VIP preparations and turning the house.
- Maintain hotel property standards, policies and procedures. Prioritize and organize work assignments, direct performance of assigned staff and follow up with corrections where needed.
- Be an expert in and demonstrate knowledge of grounds and facilities layouts, configurations, cleanliness expectations and procedures.
- Occasionally assists the Housekeeping Leadership with organizational tasks as needed.
Skills and Experience:
- Three to five years of Hotel/Resort and large facility housekeeping maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate and provide directions in a clear, concise and professional manner in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and leadership to their understanding.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Excellent team skills, including but not limited to, listening, coaching, guiding, flexible working, adaptability, collaboration, and facilitation.
- Must be able to push, pull and lift 50 lbs.
- Available to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays.
- Must be able to walk, stand for prolonged periods as needed.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED
