About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Specialist to join our team at the Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research in Franklin, Maine. As a Mechanical Specialist, you will be responsible for performing regular and routine maintenance on mechanical, HVAC, and aquaculture systems, as well as troubleshooting and repairing equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation, maintenance, service, and repair of facility equipment, including pumps, blowers, motors, boilers, HVAC, heat exchangers, UV sterilizers, filters, piping, and automated controls.
  • Frequent use of power tools and test meters.
  • Work under the supervision of the Systems Manager or Director of Operations on project tasks, with general guidance on project priority and planning.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects up to 100 lbs and frequently exerting up to 50 lbs of force, standing, and operating power equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with University staff to schedule and plan projects.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years' work experience in any one or a combination of: mechanical repair, facilities or equipment maintenance, building trades, electrical/HVAC or plumbing work.
  • Valid Maine Drivers' License.
  • Ability to read and understand written operating and technical instructions.
