Job SummaryThe Electrical Supervisor plays a crucial role in the electrical team's understanding of the production process, leading troubleshooting and repair of electrical, controls, and mechanical aspects of production and facilities equipment on assigned shifts. This position provides technical support to Production team members, analyzes production data, and improves safety, uptime, quality, energy consumption, tool change cycle times, and other operational metrics.
Responsibilities- Organize a team of electricians actively involved in various craft specialties, including input on evaluations and weekly time approval.
- Responsible for shift schedule, including work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, backup for absent employees, and rotating shifts.
- Diagnose, delegate, instruct, and carry out skilled activities involving the repair, installation, calibration, and maintenance of equipment and facilities, ensuring adherence to safety practices and principles.
- Guarantee electrical equipment maintenance to relevant Federal, State, and Local Codes.
- Create and manage work/emergency work orders and prioritize daily and preventative assignments.
- Monitor production process operating parameters and make adjustments to ensure safe and efficient equipment performance.
- Participate in root cause problem-solving and equipment performance improvement efforts to support target OEE levels.
- Identify corrective action and troubleshooting to improve equipment reliability.
- Supervise, train, and coach employees to accomplish productivity, safety, quality, and efficiency objectives.
- Coordinate during shutdowns and conduct shift meetings.
- Upkeep of reporting, records, and schematics, documentation of inspections, and confined space monitors.
- Escalate and communicate operational information and issues promptly for proper resolution.
- Support the production team in improvements to all aspects of production as needed.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned and special projects, such as safety projects.
- At least two (2) years manufacturing experience.
- At least four years of electrical experience.
- Demonstrate an electrical aptitude and experience working with high voltages (480V to 4160V).
- Ability to carry out operations safely and efficiently, utilizing assigned appliances and tools.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain accurate records.
- Proficient in basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to interpret sketches, blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Ability to interpret, illustrate, and apply regulation codes and rules.
- Willing and able to maintain and enforce strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including safety equipment.
- Availability to provide necessary coverage in a continuous operational plant.
- High School degree or equivalent plus four (4) years of progressively responsible journey level electrical experience.
- Associate's degree in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience.
- Experience in wood products, pelletizing operations, or similar manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in mathematics and measurements.
- Experience in PLC programming and working with automated, controls, instrumentation devices, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Computer knowledge; MS Office 365, email, teams, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership, including lead person or supervisor backup experience.
Must be able to work in outdoor environments and in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees. Willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments. Occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. Working at heights and confined spaces. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight on assigned shifts or to address unexpected issues with or without notice.
Physical RequirementsWilling and able to perform tasks such as lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA. Ability to work from heights and confined spaces. Able to climb multiple flights of steps, ramps, vertical ladders, scaffolds (fixed or portable). Able to work around moving equipment and machinery. Ability to perform work while wearing PPE, including Arc Flash protection.
