The Director of Strategic Operations is responsible for creating, communicating, implementing, and sustaining strategic initiatives for DWIHN. The Director will assist with creating, communicating, executing, and sustaining the Network’s strategic plan while working closely with all DWIHN departments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates, communicates, implements, and sustains strategic initiatives.
  • Assists with creating, communicating, executing, and sustaining the Network’s strategic plan.
  • Utilizes data and best practices to support the development of innovative programs and/or services.
  • Works closely with several DWIHN departments to prepare for NCQA certification.
  • Collaborates with internal and external agencies/contractor to establish the NCQA readiness standards and associated policies and procedures.
  • Assesses the mental health field to identify emerging trends and recommends new initiatives to grow the Network.
  • Establishes specific plans, deliverables and measurable objectives.
  • Assists with clarifying the Network strategy for leaders and associates.
  • Coordinates the regulatory reviews for the Network.
  • Supports short and long-term growth of the organization.
  • Coordinates and facilitates strategic-planning and implementation meetings with executive leadership and managers at all levels.
  • Establishes transparency and accountability for those individuals carrying out DWIHN’s strategic plan.
  • Engages external business and industry experts to learn and influence business strategies.
  • Assesses opportunities and risks in the marketplace.
  • Establishes and executes the Annual Strategic Planning Cycle.
  • Manages the strategy implementation process for key strategic actions.
  • Clarifies the DWIHN’s strategy for various departments and each function, ensuring that all employees understand the details of the strategic plan and how their work connects to corporate goals.
  • Creates and achieves strategic goals and objectives through effective leadership and mentoring of the management team.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’S)

  • Knowledge of documents / regulations that govern the provision of mental health services, e.g., Medicaid Manual Mental Health and Substance Abuse Chapter III, State Plan for Medicaid, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Quality Plan, BBA requirements and the Mental Health Code.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry best practice standards.
  • Knowledge of Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSP) and Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHP).
  • Knowledge of NCQA requirements and the accreditation process.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methodology of total quality management (TQM)/ continuous quality improvement (CQI), specifically the PDSA/PDCA Cycle, quality tools and techniques, and models for improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, the Human Services, the Social Services, Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Seven (7) years of progressive management and leadership experience in a community mental health setting.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED LICENSE(S).

A Valid State of Michigan clinical licensure: RN, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LLP, PhD or PSYD.

(A Limited License will be accepted).

A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is usually performed in an office setting but requires the employee to drive to different sites throughout Wayne County and the State of Michigan. This position can work remotely with supervisory approval. Currently this position is primarily a remote position.
