Responsibilities: Oversight of all youth programming for the BSCO & BASE


POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Development Manager is a passionate, caring leader dedicated to fostering cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development for children and youth across all age groups, from infants to teenagers. This manager is responsible for creating and implementing engaging curricula and programs that captivate and support participants in a safe and nurturing environment. The Youth Development Manager will spearhead program development and oversee the coordination of operations, administration, enrollment, parent engagement, marketing, risk management, and staff participation. They will ensure the delivery of high-quality programs, develop and maintain new programs, develop a vision for program growth, and implement improvements to existing programs. This position is an exempt salaried role that may occasionally require working more than 40 hours per week.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Lead and oversee all youth programs, including BASEcamp and Camp Big Sky.

• Develop, maintain, and implement new programs for toddlers, elementary, middle, and high school children and youth in the areas of fitness & wellness, recreation leagues/pick up and climbing.

• Collaborate and communicate with the BSCO Recreation and Wellness Manager on Youth Programming. • Design, market, and lead family-focused events, such as 'Date Night' for families in the community.

• Manage youth program registration in coordination with BASE administration staff and Programs & Recreation.

• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents, program participants, and community members.

• Assist as needed with daily operations at BASE and with BSCO community events. • Assist in maintaining the Camp Big Sky Yurt facilities.

• Track enrollment of all youth programming.

• Assist with budgeting, hiring, coaching, and training of staff and counselors.

• Ensure compliance with state and local regulations to maintain program standards and safety procedures.

• Assume other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE AND SKILLS

• 3-5 years direct experience working with youth in a similar setting.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience leading others and managing a team.

• Experience in youth programs, camp management or related field.

• Background in teaching school-aged youth; a combination of education and experience will be considered.

• Hold skills in outdoor activities, including hiking and team sports.

• CPR and First Aid certification and training required.

• Computer proficiency including email communication, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, digital photo downloading and sharing, database management, and ability and willingness to learn other software as needed.

• Must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
