IT Security Specialist (Remote, Eastern or Central Time)
We have an immediate need for a contract-to-hire IT Security Specialist to join an industry-leading payments technology and solutions organization. The IT Security Specialist is an experienced professional responsible in ensuring the security of the organization’s networks and resources against cyber threats.
Location: Remote but MUST work Eastern or Central Time Zone hours
This job expects to pay about $62 - 70 per hour plus benefits.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct threat assessments for infrastructure and applications to ensure adequate technical and non-technical effective controls are in place.
- Identify, mitigate, and drive remediation of security threats and issues.
- Be a subject matter expert to assist in security investigations.
- Continuously assess the security risk posture and compliance.
- Contribute to projects and initiatives on the roadmap.
- Collaborate with business partners to enable agile and secure solutions.
- Mature security capabilities through continuous improvement and automation.
- Enable knowledge sharing and collaborate with team members.
- Stay abreast of new security technology, emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and security controls.
What Gets You The Job:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in a technical IT security role, such as security operations or engineering.
- Experience with using, configuring changes and cloud, network, endpoint, data security tools.
- Strong analytical skills including solving and communicating complex problems, data analytics, measurement and reporting needed to drive continuous improvement.
- Strong skills with analytical tools such as Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of cyber security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK/D3FEND, ISO27001, NIST 800.53/CSF, etc.
- Proficiency in multiple information security domains
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial agile environment.
- CISSP, CISM, CISA or other relevant security certifications.
- Experience working within security operational roles in engineering or SOC.
- Working experience scripting and APIs using Python, Powershell or other languages.
- Experience working on Linux systems.
