Job DescriptionJob Description

Definition and Primary Objective:

Assist the Human Resources Department on a wide range of projects with a focus on HR compliance matters, which include assistance with recruiting, on-boarding/orientation, learning and development, and employee benefits as needed. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to: VP of Human Resources

Primary Responsibilities:

Administration 50%

  • Assists with Company Events; sets-up, prepares documents, coordinates requests and production of needed items for events.
  • Provides phone/receptionist coverage as needed to support the front desk on lunches, vacations, etc.
  • Performs data entry as needed for updating employee records and assist the HR department with scanning files into the HRIS system.
  • May assist with the creation of standard operating procedures for key department activities.
  • Performs a variety of special projects to assist the advancement of the HR team and offerings.
  • Assists with monthly communication for the employee newsletter.
  • Completes variety of administrative duties, including but not limited to check requests, employee verifications, computer loans, and filing.
  • Compiles and assists with the completion of the candidate new hire packets

Recruitment 50%

  • Assists with scheduling candidate interviews, including group interviews; coordinating time, location and necessary participants. Confirms and coordinates details with all involved parties.
  • Assists with data entry.
  • System uploads regarding hiring and status information and ensures proper set-up of electronic files.
  • Assists with and participates in screening interviews.
  • May assist with building out screening/interviewing questions/guides, asking questions and providing feedback on candidates.
  • Complete appropriate interview follow-up with candidate and update the Recruitment Tracking Sheet as needed.
  • Sets-up and coordinates background checks for new hires.
  • May assist in scheduling drug screens with facilities for new hire drug screens.
  • Processes paperwork and follows up on required documents as needed.

Minimum Education, Experience and Other Skill Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Current or recent enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources, or management/administrative fields;

• Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously;

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications;

• Student Member of SHRM a plus.

Work Environment:

Exposed to a combination of office, school, and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and children who are upset.
