THE TYPE OF MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS COUNSELOR WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, or a related human service field
  • Ability to provide diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic services effectively
  • Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance
  • Exceptional communication and engagement skills
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with professionals from various disciplines and a deep understanding of multiculturalism

Previous experience in mobile crisis response is preferred.


WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE OUR MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS COUNSELOR

You will work a flexible schedule that adapts to the needs of our clients, including after-hours crisis collaboration as needed. Your ability to respond immediately to crisis locations and provide timely interventions will be crucial

As a Mental Health Crisis Counselor, you will collaborate with your team to respond to mental health crises affecting adults and children in St. Clair County. You will conduct comprehensive crisis assessments using evidence-based tools, ensuring that every individual receives the appropriate level of care and support. Communication within your team will be key as you provide brief therapeutic interventions and follow-up support to those who have engaged with our Mobile Crisis Response Team. Your day will also involve completing necessary clinical documentation, maintaining compliance with COA and other regulatory requirements, and assisting clients in transitioning to other levels of service. You will work across departments to collaborate on suicide prevention practices and needs
