Job Summary


This position is accountable for contributing to the daily back office production within the Deposit Operations Department. The Specialist will perform various back office operational duties daily as well as provide overall team support. The primary responsibilities would be to ensure daily activities are completed accurately, timely, and are compliant with all applicable Federal and State banking regulations and the deposit product policies and procedures approved by Saint Louis Bank.


Job Responsibilities

  • Back office processing and risk-based decision making related to daily deposit operations including but not limited to: Proof of Deposit (POD) review, deposit item processing, exception item handling of rejects, final review and process of international and domestic wire transfers, the receiving and delivery of incoming and outgoing ACH files, debit cards maintenance, Reg E and check adjustments, general ledger reconciliation, check collections, lockbox processing and fraud prevention.
  • Provide a high quality of service to ensure a positive and timely experience for both internal and external clients.
  • Escalate issues as needed to the Deposit Operations Supervisor.
  • Remain current on all required bank, departmental and regulatory training.
  • Any additional duties assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • A minimum of 2 years of banking experience in an Operational role is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of payment processing, bank operations, and payment related bank regulations is required. AAP and/or NCP certification is desirable.
  • Strong familiarity of Deposit Operations processes with emphasis on item processing, day two exceptions, ACH, wire transfers, check processing, return item processing, debit cards, stop payments, fraud and check kiting.
  • Detail oriented with effective time management, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle unexpected delays or events and still meet deadlines.
  • Above average computer, analytical, problem solving, and math skills, proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively, independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of garnishments, levies and subpoenas would be beneficial.
