Description
Client, part of the Piovan Group, is the world's largest supplier of dust removal solutions for plastic processors and manufacturers. Aside from the plastics business, dedusting technology is also employed in the food, mineral, and recycling industries. In 2003, the business began expanding into the pneumatic conveying area, developing a novel pressure conveying technique known as pellcon3 . Client has a large selection of pneumatic conveying components, including rotary valves, diverter valves, and shut-off valves, that are specifically intended for the conveyance of pellets and powder. Another Client innovation, the Pellbow , is a unique pipe elbow used in the plastics sector to prevent dust and streamers from entering the conveying system.
Role
The Process & Service Engineer is in charge of setting up and maintaining the Client's pneumatic conveying and dedusting equipment. They also help with process design by creating P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams. This job reports to the Director of Process & Quality Engineering and is based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Offer start-up commissioning services for specified projects.
- Always keep project files structured in accordance with the client's filing system.
- Before performing a start-up or service visit, ensure that all relevant technical documentation (e.g., P&IDs, sequence of operation, equipment drawings, general arrangement drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, specification sheets, and manuals) is proper.
- Prepare written reports to record service and start-up activity.
- Support Process Engineering by creating AutoCAD Plant 3D models, 2D drawings, layouts, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and bill of materials based on written and/or vocal instructions as needed.
- Read and interpret project documentation, including client specifications.
- Assist Process Engineering in sizing and selecting equipment in compliance with project parameters.
- Participate in Kick-Off meetings, both internal and external, as needed to thoroughly grasp project and delivery needs;
- Prior to the start-up visit, develop an equipment start-up plan and other paperwork with the assistance of the Project Engineer.
- Resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and warranty claims relating to assigned projects in a timely and cost-effective way, either on-site or remotely as needed.
- Travel as necessary to vendor and customer sites (domestic and international);
- Provide Sales support as required;
Requirements
Qualifications and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field);
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop documents such as purchase orders, contracts, specifications, engineering reports, blueprints, office procedures, parts lists, and price book;
- Five (5) years of related experience and/or training in engineered systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience, ideally with pneumatic conveying and dedusting systems;
- Experience and proven ability to use AutoCAD 2D, Plant 3D software is preferred
- Ability to write routine correspondence;
- Experience with SAP will be a plus;
- Ability to travel to vendors and customer premises, valid US Passport when required;
- Speak effectively, both one-on-one and in groups with vendors, customers, and employees;
- Ability to make start-up and inspections: climbing ladders to platforms and silos in customer plants.
- Experience in use of Microsoft Office Products is required;
