ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reports directly to the Young Adult Case Manager Supervisor Program Director. Maintains accountability to the juvenile court, D.C.F.S., and to the agency for case work services rendered to youth and their families. Promotes a youth guided, family centered, and strengths-based environment at all times. Effective utilization of both verbal and physical intervention skills. The team supervisor is primarily responsible for serving as the clinical leader and direct supervisor for the team of 4 to 5 Young Adult Case Manager Supervisor specialists. The team supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws. The team supervisor provides clinical direction to the specialists based on the Young Adult Case Manager Supervisor model, which includes weekly management and facilitation of the group supervision process by direct case review, overseeing service plan development, and ensuring case progress. The team supervisor is on call 24/7 based on the program's on-call schedule to support young adults and specialists during crisis situations. The supervisor may provide crisis intervention as needed. The team supervisor attends consultation and collaborates with the clinical consultant on staff development interventions. Additionally, the team supervisor ensures documentation and contractual requirements are met. The team supervisor assists with coverage for Young Adult Case Manager Supervisor specialists when needed (e.g. vacations and sick leaves), supports staff when attending court and in meetings with collateral contacts, and conduct field supervision to ensure Young Adult Case Manager Supervisor specialist competency. Additionally, the team supervisor manages the professional development of each Young Adult Case Manager Supervisor specialist by developing a plan for each specialist and holds individual supervision meetings and staff meetings. The team supervisor is involved in the hiring and performance management of specialists, providing support and assistance to the team, professional development and training, reviewing service receipt and documentation, planning, assigning, and directing work, and collaborating with internal and external customers.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assures the effective implementation of all external and internal policy and procedures related to

case management and intake services across the agency continuum

  • Orient, train, supervise, and evaluate case managers in their service functions on behalf of the youth of OAP
  • Promotes a youth guided, family centered, and strengths-based environment at all times
  • Collaborates with Vice Presidents and Program Managers to review, develop, and implement policy

and procedures related to OAP

  • Collaborates with other Administrators to ensure effective communication and coordinated service

delivery between programs

  • Will meet regularly with assigned supervisor and attend agency meetings
  • Coordinates and provides oversight on case management services from intake through post-discharge
  • Consults with team members to assist in their delivery of services as indicated from the treatment

plan

  • Locates and facilitates referrals for community-based services for young people
  • Determines needs for community programs (school, recreation, jobs, vocational opportunities, medical or mental health services, etc.)
  • Sets a positive example for employees, is a role model. Supports and trains employees on appropriate strategies using the 5 S's and therapeutic de-escalation skills
  • Promotes professional growth in employees, fostering strengths and redirecting efforts as necessary
  • Ensure employees attend training related to being trauma informed-at least two every twelve months
  • Mediate personnel conflicts with respect and dignity
  • Understand the impact of secondary trauma and workplace stress and use strategies to prevent, minimize and/or help employees heal and recover.
  • Ensure assessment tools used to inform practice and treatment include screens for trauma exposure
  • Maintain fidelity of trauma focused interventions and treatment modalities
  • Actively involved in planning and delivery of training related to own area of expertise and needs of programs supervised
  • Provides at least one monthly group supervision with assigned case managers
  • Provides specific and comprehensive position orientation to case managers, therapists and interns
  • Facilitate and/or monitor staffing's, ACRs, team meetings as deemed appropriate
  • Interprets the agency to the larger service community and may present agency's program to public or

civic groups

  • Maintains and tracks required entries into agency and DCFS data system(s)
  • May cover ACR/court during employee vacancies/absences
  • Works collaboratively with the case management team to insure the organization and compliance of client files
  • May prepare written work for advancing both the agency and the professional field
  • Review written material before finalized as permanent record
  • Uses active and reflective listening skills and affirmations to demonstrate respect and empathy, avoiding negative and derogatory labels that foster disrespect
  • Understand that behaviors, responses, attitudes, and emotions are a collection of survival skills often developed in response to traumatic experiences
  • Maintain confidentiality of employees, volunteers, and program participants to provide a safe environment
  • Attend at least two trainings related to being trauma informed in a twelve-month period
  • Ability to work effectively with program participants and family members, employees and vendors in a culturally diverse environment to support healing and recovery
  • Demonstrates a commitment to and participates in the development of continuous quality

improvement in all aspects of the position

  • Review expenditures according to agency guidelines
  • Oversee and sign off on all necessary reports and ensure that all case activities and incidents are documented, and in the case record and SACWIS in a timely fashion
  • Participate as a member of the OAP leadership team in planning, executing and evaluating agency and department resources
  • On call to address emergencies and to respond by phone or in person
  • Other duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in human service field with at least three (3) years of post-degree, supervisory experience
  • Must have the Child Welfare Employee Licensure at hire or attend the next scheduled Foundation training Program for licensure, meet the requirements for attendance and conduct, and pass Licensure Exam including CERAP (Child Engagement Risk Assessment Protocol) and CANS (Child Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment).
  • Must complete Teen Parenting Service Network Specialty Training within one year of hire date
  • Knowledge of childhood trauma and prior experience working in settings with youth and families that have been exposed to trauma or experiencing traumatic stress preferred
  • Knowledge of youth development, adolescent issues, positive youth development/strength-based approach preferred
  • Personal vehicle or access to vehicle and proof of insurance
  • Valid Illinois Driver's license
  • No history of child abuse or neglect
